OACC is a cultural association dedicated to the idea of enriching people’s lives through art. The center was founded as a non-profit center in 2010 under the auspices of Elken Foundation committed to encouraging the understanding of art and culture through exhibition, collection, research and education.
Located along the oldest road in Kuala Lumpur, a shophouse building were converted into a 13000 sq ft gallery space and supporting facilities including classrooms, resource center, and collection room. OACC aims to become the focal point of cross-cultural dialogues in art and to promote art and cultural activities. We are also committed to producing high quality educational programs and activities to complement our exhibitions, targeting a wide variety of audience.
As part of our effort to promote local art scene, this association also furnishes the space for initiating dialogues in art among local artists and to develop young emerging artists. The exhibition gallery was designed and build to the utmost care and comfort to provide a professional exhibition space that is both pleasant and enriching.
Enriching Lives Together is both the vision and objective of ELKEN business. The alleviation of poverty and suffering, the fostering of self-reliance and empowerment of the disadvantaged and underprivileged through education and training and the promotion of the spirit of caring and sharing embody the reasons for the setting up of ELKEN Foundation in 2007 and was granted tax exempt status by the Inland Revenue Board in 2008.
Through various avenues and channels, ELKEN Foundation helps, partners and collaborates with similar minded individuals and organizations in activities for the betterment of lives in its community, society, nation and to the world.
As a socially responsible organization, ELKEN Sdn Bhd through the efforts and initiatives ELKEN Foundation hopes to contribute positively and support community welfare and socially uplifting causes and initiatives thus touching lives and impacting the community in the various countries where ELKEN operates.
Thus the legacy in which ELKEN Foundation hope to leave behind are the memories of the people in which it had impacted is that of love, trust, compassion and a heart for humanity.
One of Elken Foundation’s initiatives is also to raise awareness and preserve the oriental culture to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
The result of this is the establishment of the Oriental Art and Culture Association (OACC) to spearhead new and innovative methods to attract the interest and participation of the younger generation.
The OACC shall be managed as a not for profit art association with the main thrust dedicated to bringing art to the people.
It shall also function as a catalyst and bridging platform by promoting understanding of the art culture and be an active encourager in cultural exchange and supporting the young and emerging artists in this region and beyond.
OACC shall also strive to be active in its ongoing research and education activities to further propagate and establish a brand identity for all established as well as rising talents who have limited resources to do so on their own.
It shall also aim to be a center of local and international collaborative art exhibitions, conducting ongoing education programs and classes, as well as to build up its own permanent collection of art pieces.
Thus it is envisaged that OACC would be able to play a key role in the overall vision of Elken Foundation of Enriching Lives and raise the appreciation level of the exquisiteness of the true oriental art and culture to all Malaysians.
